This past Tuesday, April 7th, was the 15th anniversary of the beginning of the genocide. The Gesozi Center, a memorial and museum for the genocide (pictured above), hosted a candle lighting ceremony to honor the dead and to raise money for survivors and money for building a theater in the center. It is on people's minds - theater as a tool for constructing cultural memory. I'm curious who would attend and what kind of work will come forward.

I want to thank everyone who has donated to the trip. Despite what my little widgit meter says, the fundraising effort has been very successful. I am only $500 short of my tuition fee. Through your generous donations and a travel grant from the school, I am almost there.
